Project: Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS)
Customer: DC Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF)
Prime Contractor: Conduent
Subcontractor: Business Promotion Consultants, Inc. (BPC)
Project Description
The Challenge:
The legacy system that managed Medicaid fiscal operations for the District of Columbia (DC) was technologically outdated and incapable of responding to current demands. DC compiled their functionality wish list and solicited for a contractor-sourced solution.
The Work:
BPC partnered with ACS (which was subsequently bought by Xerox, and then spun off to form Conduent) and our team was selected to design, build, operate, and maintain the current DC MMIS. BPC’s subcontract was activated while the MMIS was being debugged and tested. Our focus is on MMIS Operations and other administrative duties. BPC participated in implementation (go-live), and are currently supporting MMIS operations in the following areas:
- Provider enrollment
- Claims processing
- Provider inquiry
- Provider outreach
- Training and publications
- Prescription benefits management
- Other administrative areas
In addition, BPC is supporting MMIS Systems maintenance, providing service in the areas of:
- Business analysis
- Systems development
- Programming and analysis
The Benefits:
The DC MMIS has been certified by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), a significant milestone and a requisite for continued contractor performance. Our team continues to perform as the financial back office for DC Medicaid operations.
